KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 8 (Bernama) — The upcoming Financial Carnival by Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) in Kuching will promote more awareness for digital banking services and promote cashless transactions among Sarawakians.
Chairman, Association of Banks in Sarawak Nasir Khan Istiar Hussain Khan said the endeavour would also be in line with the state government’s initiative to implement SarawakPay in 2018, a cashless payment system.
“It is important for the general public to be aware of the digital economy’s ever changing landscape and how they can take advantage of the new financial offerings and tools,” he said in a statement.
Themed, ‘Your Financial Needs Matters’, the three-day carnival from Nov 24, would be officiated by Sarawak Chief Minister Datuk Pattingi Abang Johari Tun Abang Haji Openg.
The carnival is free and open to the public from 10 am to 10 pm.
